South Korean architects developed unusual conceptual design according to which in an empty trunk of a sequoia it will be possible to place the whole skyscraper.
The project under the name “Dedication: The monument to the giant” on most in practice isn’t going to operate one of the most unusual species of trees on Earth.
It is rather mental experiment which was developed within the competition eVolo 2017 on design of the most futuristic skyscraper. This design received an honourable mention and is created rather not to build skyscrapers, but to remind people, these trees, well are how grandiose and to imagine ways to interact with the nature, but not to destroy it.
“The architecture quietly fills the place in the become empty trunks — creators say — without breaking the landscape which is already created by giants. And then the building becomes an artificial organ which replaces the decayed parts of a tree”.
In trees the structural kernel will pass through the center, and the additional cage in the form of a grid will create an external layer under bark which at a sequoia can be thicker than 60 cm. In a tree there will be several platforms for the educational purposes, laboratories, exhibitions and survey platforms.
Such constructions will prevent the collapse of a rotten trunk, and no inhabited constant rooms in such skyscraper are provided even theoretically.
